What if you can go back into time, what would you say to yourself?

It's obvious that we all can't time travel, we can only live in the moment and learn from our past and try to make smart daily choices now for a better tomorrow. A good example of this, picture yourself while driving to work, taking the same road all the time, one day the car radio tells you to take another route because of traffic due to an accident. For some reasons, you didn't listen, didn't go the other recommended route, and you kept going and got to work late. What if you went the other way, maybe you would have gotten to work early, maybe not? I have tested this theory so many times going to work everyday and did both. The times that I took the alternate route, I did get to work faster, and when I didn't I was late for work. The smarter choices tends to give us better results and the bad choices we make will most likely give us something we don't like or need in our lives. I have incorporated this concept into my life as I got older.
The choices we make daily does have an affect on our lives and people around me seems to forget that. Some of my friends and family sometimes ask me, what happened, did you lose weight, are you ok, or they ask if I'm sick? I just look at them and say, I'm fine. You can never please your family or friends, when I was heavy and overweight, my family would ask if my health was good? The point where I'm going with is, that in the past few years, I decided to make better choices in life and the end results speaks for themselves. For example, let's start with getting in shape and being healthy. I know that is a touchy subject, but seriously, if you want to be around for your family, or just wanting to live a healthy lifestyle, then you are the only person that will have to make the decision to get in shape and be healthy. We've been told so many times to get in shape and being healthy, you'll need to eat a balance diet and do regular exercises daily at least three to five times a week.
My personal battles on this subject has been a struggle for the past twenty years or more, because I was raised Italian. Food was one of the best things about growing up Italian, everywhere you go food was abundant, especially during the holidays and during church feast season. In my teens and early adult age, I was into weightlifting, sports, and always kept active so I consumed lots of foods. By the time I had my own family, happy and married, my lifestyle of not making the right food choices caught up to me health wise. Walking around at two hundred plus pounds at 5'7" was not healthy.
I would love to go back into my twenties or even early thirties again and change the way I ate back then. The road in life is unforeseeable, it's like when you are driving and making a turn somewhere, you don't know or see the end of the road until you get there? All of us will have different life experiences based on the choices we make daily. My decision to make the right healthy choices in the foods I eat and to exercise daily has change my life. At one point or another, we all will have to make a decision about how we want to live our lives. The road you take will definitely be bumpy and not all smooth sailing but that's the beauty of life. You will be happy with the end results, in my case the more I tried and failed, the better the results were.
Two years ago I weighted in a little over two hundred pounds, turned 55, looked in the mirror, and had enough of excuses. I started making the right eating choices, walked for thirty days straight, and got into jogging. Today, my weight is between one hundred and fifty five to one hundred fifty two pounds. My target weight is to get to one hundred and forty five pounds heading into my sixties. I feel so much more energetic, confident, and feel like I'm in my mid twenties again!
I will go into more details on future blogs about my diet and exercise routines.
If your goal is to get in shape and being healthy, what path and choices will you make?
