I'm big into fitness and health now as I head towards my 60s, and depending on which roadmap you choose to get healthy, proper footwear is very important. Since I decided to get into boxing back in August 2024, proper footwear was a little concerning to me. While working out and doing boxing exercises, my footing was becoming an issue because I would slip a lot on the gym floors. This was not good for me, and I was afraid of twisting or kinking my ankles or injuring my knees.
A typical boxing gym or any gym that has a lot of people working out hitting a punching bag will have wet floors from people dropping sweat while hitting the punching bags. There's no way around that, and you can't keep asking someone to wipe off the sweat from the floors, so having proper footwear is crucial if you are at a gym practicing hitting a punching bag. My solution was finding nonslip footwear that will help me get a better workout while hitting a punching bag in the gym or just doing routine exercises.
I found a pair of low-profile shoes that have a rubber sole, wide enough for my feet, and supposedly they are the new thing for serious workout enthusiasts. These new types of shoes are supposed to be better for you to wear, make you feel more grounded, and help support your mobility. I have been wearing the Mifawa shoes that I found on Amazon during my training and have been putting those shoes to the test while doing high-intensity interval training and wearing them during sparring sessions. In my honest opinion, the shoes seem to be holding up during my heavy-duty training. I will leave a link to the video here for you to see how these shoes hold up during my workouts.
