Try to Become a Now Person and Get Respected by Others.

Here's a proven concept that actually works for me through the years. If you start to look at the day as a circle and then section off the circle of what you actually do in twenty four hours, you'll realize how fast one day goes by. You sleep eight hours, maybe work a regular job another eight hours, and the rest maybe you spend the remaining hours with your family or taking some time for yourself. The point is, that we don't have a lot of time to get things done during the course of the day, and especially if you work for a company or organization that relies on your services.

It doesn't matter what kind of work you do or type of industry you're in, you will become a better worker if you learn how to practice what I've been doing, the now and not later thinking concept. This is much more than some blueprint type list of items to do. You have to go back to thinking about the twenty four day time and condition your mind to try and complete whatever job task on the same day it was given to you. There are so many examples of this and most people will end up not completing their tasks. People will often keep adding to their list of to do things and end up not getting things done. For me, I try to eliminate the later part because later usually never comes, and do whatever I need to do in the now moment not later. A clear example of this, as school maintenance worker like myself, while cleaning the stairwells, I was approached by a teacher who requested me to replace a clock battery in her room whenever I get a chance to. Eliminating the later mentality, I would then temporarily stop cleaning and go replace the clock battery, and then go finish cleaning the stairwells after. Yes, I could have waited until I was done cleaning the stairwells, but waiting to do it later, the teacher will not be able to teach properly because of classroom activity time schedules.

One of the key factors how people treat and respect you, is your ability to get things done not only at work but also at home and among your friends. I have been lucky to have my job as a school maintenance worker for the past eight years and have been respected from day one for being available, consistent, and getting as many things done in the now moment concept as I can possible. Later never comes, there's always something else that will come along, why not do it now? Obviously, there are things that I can not fix or do in the now moment but I will try to do them as quickly as I can and because I do so many things on the same day, the perception of me as a go to person is insured in their mind. Being confident in yourself, not afraid to work, and adopting the now not later concept people will respect you. "You are the master of your own universe", a phrase that I learned from the principle at my school that resonates with me. Only you can determine how people will treat and respect you. Become a now person, later usually never comes.

How will you complete your next task, now or later?
